I was born in Zamora (Spain), a cute Romanesque town close to Portugal (see photo below). I obtained a first BA in Classics from Universidad de Valladolid, the city where I was raised. I got a second BA, in Linguistics, from Universitat de Barcelona, where I also obtained my MA and PhD in Linguistics (2010).
After working as a lexicographer and a grammarian of Catalan at Institut d'Estudis Catalans (Barcelona), I began teaching at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2009. I obtained a post-doc position at Universidade do Minho (Braga) in 2013 and a Junior Research Fellowship in Linguistics at the University of Cambridge in 2014. In 2017 I took my current academic position at the University of Oxford.
I did an academic stay as a visiting student at the Department of Linguistics and Philosophy of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, Mass.) in 2004.
